The purpose of the Citizens Academy is to give residents of Orange County a real time view of their Sheriff’s  Office.  By getting to know one another, doors will  open, communication will be enhanced, and ultimately, Orange County will better be served.

The Academy is designed to provide residents with a general overview of Criminal Law, Crime Prevention, Community Services, Civil Process, Court proceedings, 9-1-1 Communications, Medical Emergency Response, Criminal Investigations and more.

Although graduates of the Academy are not qualified for daily street duty, they do acquire a better understanding of the Orange County Sheriff’s Office operations and responsibilities.  Graduates also gain a greater awareness and appreciation of the difficult challenges and decisions a deputy faces every day.
