Chan McDade serves as the Lieutenant of Administrative Services for the Orange County Sheriff’s Office.

Lt. McDade grew up in Orange County and graduated from Orange High School.

He spent nine years as a quality assurance technician at Glaxo Welcome.  Seeking a change and a career ladder, he applied for a position with the Sheriff’s Office.

Hired by former Sheriff Lindy Pendergrass in 1997, Lt. McDade began his service in the detention center. In 1998 he received his Basic Law Enforcement Certification and began work as a deputy. Eventually serving as an investigator in the Criminal Investigations Division, he became an expert in cell phone forensics and assumed duties as the agency’s armorer. The armorer maintains the inventory of service weapons and ammunition and coordinates the repair of shotguns. He retained these specialized responsibilities when promoted to the Administrative Lieutenant position in July of 2019.

In his current role, Lt. McDade coordinates the administrative staff, oversees all record keeping, and organizes finger printing services. He also manages public applications for pistol purchase and concealed carry permits.

Lt. McDade earned his Advanced Law Enforcement Certificate in 2010 and he received the Advanced Service Award in 2020.
